TINY SPOILERSAfter the amazing Metro 2033 and 2034 novels this one was a disappointment First of all the idea is repeated I have read a sci fi story with immortal society and purity suads hunting those who want to have children at least a years ago in one of Paolo Bacigalupi s Windup Stories Also I really hoped that Dmitry Glukhovsky would amaze me and make me wonder philosophically about the human nature like it happened with Metros But he didn t The only feeling I had was disappointment It was totally predictable in one aspect every pretty woman the main hero encounters will be either raped by someone forced to have him with pain at her servile consent or simply taken to bed the F word would suit here better actually Predictable boring and painful The future world in Glukhovsky s vision is a very bad place for women I m disappointed and sad Hopefully Metro 2035 will be a better book I won t read Future vol 2 if it ever appears

Despite my rating it s not a bad book I didn t loose my head over it and it made me think uite a lot but still I expected something And I liked Metro 2033 series way Smells Like Orwell s Spirit or Arm PitsFor me this book is very similar to GOrwell s 1984 It s sad angry melancholic They both have this antagonist vs protagonist where the protagonist also IS the antagonist man vs the system topics themes In both books the government is the all seeing and hearing Big Brother who wants to control everyone If you are not with the System you are outThis book has a lot to offer It also tackles family damaged people love the dangers of living forever struggles for power richpoor relationships I also thing this book is also about impossible in order to break everything you have to sacrifice yourself I even expected the ending to be Orwellesue but I was wrong Even if the ending was disappointing it was too easy guessable if you read carefully and get all the hints Violence violence everywhereIt s an angry violent book It made me feel uneasy put some stones on my heart and mind It s like a feverish dream bright burning but also sad and deeply touching I think some of the violence portrayed in the book was unnecessary the main character sometimes just hits people who are a simple background without no particular reason from the author Yeah I get the fact that the main character is an uncaring asshole but if he just punches everyone on the way home just out of the thin air it just looks and feels meh This book goes deep To reader s mind heart muscles Almost like it tries to overmaster you It shows the picture of the world that is uite believable It s what if book Yet it made me wonder why most of the writers picture the future so dark I am not an optimist but I really hope the people of the future will manage Somehow Without pills depression monsters alien attacks and etc Oh My CharacterI don t know how I feel about main character I don t hate him but I dislike him I know that was authors intention but with the all sad stories backgrounds and unhappiness going on I lost him The theme of family is uite important in this book at least fatherhood The fact that only a child made him change yeah kids are the reason of life yadadadada was a little Fake Seen before Expected Some of the drama was easily guessable Some of the characters seemed based on stereotypes Indians happy and friendly Pakistani angry Europeans wealthy and etc Also some of the other character s actions seemed weird and cray cray I was unable to connect actions with the reasons
